AfroHeal retreat takes University community members to Detroit
Trotter Multicultural Center recently hosted its first off-campus retreat in downtown Detroit through the new AfroHeal Initiative. The retreat sought to provide a healing-centered opportunity for students, staff, faculty, and alumni to come together in the pursuit of enhancing the Black on-campus experience. The first retreat brought together 17 faculty, staff, students, and alumni from across the University.
Dr. Adrian Parker presents at national conference
Last week, the newly minted Dr. Adrian Parker, Trotter's Senior Manager for Hope, Healing, and Heritage, represented Trotter at the 49th Annual Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a first-time attendee at ASHE, he gave his first conference presentation based on his dissertation research.
Trotter celebrates 53rd year at opening day commemoration event
On Friday, Trotter Multicultural Center celebrated its 53rd anniversary. The original Trotter House opened its doors on November 15, 1971. This year, students, staff, and faculty gathered in the Sankofa Lounge to honor this beloved space and the decades of student activism and work that led to where Trotter is today.
Join us every week at CommuniTea
Join Trotter Multicultural Center every Tuesday at noon for CommuniTea, a tea gathering for students, staff, and faculty to build community and share information about what they are experiencing during the week. This year, CommuniTea will feature a different U-M department or unit every week. Partnering units will be able to share their resources and offerings with students and connect with them over snacks and warm drinks.
Student Ambassador Collective launches at Trotter Multicultural Center
This week, Trotter Multicultural Center launched its brand new Student Ambassador Collective. This initiative will serve as a way for Trotter to build mutually beneficial relationships with students, allowing them to provide insights and feedback so that Trotter can create a full and impactful experience for our student community. The Student Ambassador Collective will allow student organizations and the Trotter professional staff to build collective power, as well as provide space for students to connect with each other and cultivate relationships.

Students discuss voting access and redistricting at Trotter Distinguished Leadership Series
Trotter Multicultural Center’s Trotter Distinguished Leadership Series (TDLS) kicked off on Oct. 25 with a discussion on voting access and redistricting.
