Trotter Multicultural Center

The University of Michigan is temporarily pausing its national search for a new Director of the William Monroe Trotter Multicultural Center given the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The search was launched in March.

In order to maintain a proactive continuum of services, Nadia Bazzy will be assigned to provide support for TMC, in addition to her permanent position as the Director of MESA. To further clarify, no Interim Director will be appointed; instead Bazzy will have  authority to provide support for staff and students until the role is filled permanently.

Nadia brings with her in-depth knowledge of working with multicultural student development, as well as expertise in student and community engagement, building inclusive spaces and forging innovative advancements that prepare students to be global citizens.

The TMC serves students of many cultural identities and is dedicated to celebrating and fostering U-M’s diversity in a way that is inclusive and more visible.

“The Director of the Trotter Multicultural Center serves as a key member of the Division of Student Life’s leadership team, overseeing and coordinating the center’s intercultural engagement and inclusive leadership education initiatives for students,” said Associate Vice President of Student Life Kambiz Khalili. “This position will help ensure that the Trotter Multicultural Center is a hub for our campus, uniting us as a community around the inseparable values of diversity, equity, inclusion and academic excellence for the public good. It is critical that we take the appropriate time and thoughtfulness to fill this essential position.”
